The worldwide health organisation says it has released $1m (£738,000) from an emergency fund and has deployed more than 50 experts to work with officials in the DR Congo. Of the five samples analyzed, two were found to be positive for Ebola virus serotype Zaire by RT-PCR.
Since that time, no deaths have been reported among those hospitalised or among health workers treating the ill, it said.
The new Ebola cases were identified on Tuesday in a remote area of the country's north-west, near the town of Bikoro, near the Congo River, by Government scientists there.
The virus is transmitted to human through contact with wild animals and can then be passed from person to person.
Stopping the virus from spreading further is now the top priority of the WHO.
WHO said it was working closely with Congo's government to rapidly scale up its operations and mobilise health partners as it did successfully in Congo past year.
Ebola, which has no proven cure, killed more than 11,300 people in West Africa from 2013-16 as it swept through Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
The latest incidence of the disease comes less than a year after the central African country's last outbreak, in which eight people were infected of whom four died.
"Working with partners and responding early and in a co-ordinated way will be vital to containing this deadly disease".
WHO and local officials were able to quickly control last year's outbreak in an isolated part of the country, though the 2013-2016 swept through densely populated areas, devastating Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone and sparking a US debate about travel bans and whether to quarantine returning health workers.
The deployment of "well-trained human resources" was made to "rapidly control" the outbreak, it said.
This is the ninth Ebola outbreak recorded in the Congo since 1976, when the disease was discovered there.
This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, symptoms of impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding.
