Saints Ingram suspended first 4 games of 2018 season
09 May 2018, 08:01 | Ken Black
Ingram will be eligible to play October 8 when the Saints play host to the Washington Redskins on "Monday Night Football". The Saints play the Redskins in Week 5, then have their bye, meaning that Ingram is set to be idle for five of the season's first six weeks.
Ingram, 28, has spent his entire career in New Orleans since being selected by the Saints with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Last season, Ingram combined with NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Alvin Kamara to provide an explosive one-two punch in the Saints backfield.
That's what will hurt the Saints most. Kamara was, in part, so effective because he was coupled with the workhorse in Ingram. In college, Butch Jones limited Kamara's carries too. The depth chart screams uncertainty even with Scott on the roster with running backs Trey Edmunds, Daniel Lasco and Jonathan Williams in the mix. Ingram is in the final year of his contract in 2018, and this is not the way you want to start a contract year. Overusing Kamara to such an extreme degree early in the season could prohibit the Saints from using him much late in the year when the stakes are at their highest. It's a business at the end of the day.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com and the NFL Network reported the suspension on Twitter and NFL.com announced it on the league's website.
I'm still stunned to write "Mark Ingram" and "suspension" in the same sentence.
Simmons Has Horror Game In Loss To Celtics
Jaylen Brown returned to the lineup after missing game one with a hamstring injury and poured in 13 points off the bench. In the third quarter, Boston would grab their first lead of the game, 64-63, on a three by Aaron Baynes.
2 earthquakes felt across Southern California
Southern California was jolted early Tuesday by a light natural disaster that was felt across multiple counties, scientists said. Quakes of that size generally don't cause any serious damage and there were no immediate reports of any problems related to it.
