Varadkar: Israel's ambassador to Ireland will not be expelled

55 dead in Gaza protests as Israel fetes US Embassy move

On Tuesday, the US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, said Israel acted with "restraint" in its response to Palestinian protesters.

On Wednesday, Erdogan also said the Gaza bloodshed showed "the United Nations has collapsed".

Putin and Erdogan also discussed the Syrian settlement and Russian-Turkish cooperation in the energy sector.

Amid a growing chorus of condemnation of Israeli violence by American lawmakers this week, the House's second-highest ranking Democratic, Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer, defended Israel's violence against Palestinian protesters and stood by the Trump administration's controversial decision to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The 2,700 people injured included 1,360 by live fire, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The Palestinians in the weekly protests in Gaza demands the right of return to Israel and the lifting of a decade-old naval blockade.

Similar to the U.S. Embassy inauguration, the Guatemalan event brought Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and prominent worldwide supporters of Israel, including GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson and a smattering of evangelical leaders.

Turkey on Monday recalled its ambassadors from Israel and the United States in protest of Israel's handling of the Gaza border riots, which came on the same day as the dedication of the USA embassy in Jerusalem.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been protesting for seven weeks to be able to return to their historic homes they fled in 1948 and which later became part of Israel. The callous way in which Israel dealt with the protests shows the utter disregard Tel Aviv and the worldwide community have for Palestinian lives.

Gaza protesters have hurled flaming tires, firebombs and stones toward Israeli troops, and tried to attack the border fence.

When Trump announced the move of the embassy in December last year-in accordance with the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act passed in 1995-he said that specific boundaries of Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem are subject to final negotiations.

At Wednesday's ceremony, Morales said his country was bringing a message of "love, peace and fraternity" to Israel. Israel's military said those comments proved the protests were not peaceful.

Israeli officials said Hamas used the protests against the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem as cover for attacks along the border with the intent of storming Israel and killing as many Jews as possible.

"We urge all sides to avoid escalation of the situation so as to create a conducive atmosphere to resume the peace process", the Ministry of External Affair said in a statement. Israel and the United States have claimed that the protests are engineered by Hamas, the militant Islamist group that rules the Gaza Strip.

The high death toll from Israeli fire has led to global condemnations of Israel and calls for an independent investigation. "We're at 25 times our capacity and our drug inventory is exhausted", he said. The eastern half of the city has always been envisioned as the capital of a Palestinian state, if and when a two-state solution is negotiated between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
