Probably, you have experienced thinking that your outfit looked perfect. Then, one day, you saw some of your photos and realized that your fashion style was a disaster because it was embarrassing and frankly disappointing!
It also happened to me a couple of times before, and I asked myself why I wore that outfit in that particular way. You could also find yourself in the same situation. But I tell you what. There is a way that you could avoid this mistake.
Below, I have compiled a few fashion mistakes people commit. I also include tips on how to avoid them. Read on for more!
Following Every New Trend
While there is nothing wrong with following every trend, it would not be easy to keep up with it, honestly, and it would cause you a big fortune.
Every trend is also not for all. While a specific dress looks perfect on a person, it would not be the same with others.
Year after year, new trends are introduced into the fashion world, and it is confusing to handle. The trick here is to determine the trend that matches your body type, taste, and style. Also, you do not have to feel pressured to miss a fad.
Remember that you can be chic and fashionable without following what’s the talk of the town.
Investing in Something with No Use
It is a habit for many to buy new clothing pieces they only need to wear once. It is also a habit of mine before. But let’s admit it! This kind of practice could be a waste of money and space in our closets.
Although there is nothing wrong with buying pieces you intend to wear for a specific event, it is worth it to invest in something you could use for a long time, right? Trust me! You could save a lot of time and effort in the future. You could pair that same outfit with something new to make it relevant and stylish, too. By being creative, you could come up with ideas you have never imagined.
Wearing Pieces with Horizontal Designs and Patterns
Patterns and stripes in tops are good. Unfortunately, they would make you look heavier than you really are as they make an illusion. This is especially true when the patterns are embedded horizontally.
Instead of horizontal designs, I switch to vertical patterns instead. They are a great way to give you a slimmer look, which I really like.
But if you gained a pound, it is time to hit the gym or change your diet.
If you have lots of clothes with horizontal designs, don’t just throw them in the trash. You could wear some of them at home for sure.
Staying Loyal to One Color
What’s your favorite color? In my case, I love neutral colors like black. But with my obsession with this color, I realized that all of my tops and bottoms are black.
Although black looks good to me well, I find it boring. Now, I am a savvy shopper. I choose shirts, jeans, and other pieces in colors that are easy to match.
Sometimes, with a lot of options, it would be challenging to choose the right pieces. That is why make sure to invite a close friend when shopping.
Alternatively, you could ask the salesperson for some advice. But it would be awkward. It is always best to consult a friend or relative.
Wearing too Many Accessories
Suppose it takes an hour for you to pick your outfit for today. But your job does not stop there. Looking for elegant pieces of jewelry and accessories is next, and it might be harder.
With multiple choices, the risk of wearing too many accessories is high. What are you going to do now? Although you have a vast collection of jewelry, that does not mean you have to wear them all. Just choose a maximum of three accessories to complement your desired look and showcase your glamour.
If you think you are over-accessorizing and don’t know what to do, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
There you have it!
What mistake do you usually commit? Now, you know how to become a real fashion guru. But you don’t have to be. As long as you are aware of how to style yourself, that is all right!
